Funday Times - A Poem for the week

If the world was upside down
By Githmi Wijenarayana (12 years) Southlands College, Galle

"Miss S…, what's this, your spellings are all wrong!
No play for you!" Oh, and won't she groan!
That's what'll happen with my teacher just now
If the dull old world is upside down!

"Will you please stop playing with your breakfast?'
I'll demand my mother as she crushes her peas.
"And dad, will you stop making that mess on the floor?"
“Be good now, I'm going for tea next door."

What fun to see grown-ups obeying us,
How great to have no homework and no rules.
Won't it be grand giving orders around,
Oh, if only the world was upside down!!!
