Asian Youth Volleyball
Taiwan stun Sri Lanka
By Saif Izzadeen

Taiwan came up with a brilliant performance to stun hosts Sri Lanka in straight sets at the Seventh Asian Youth Volleyball Championships continued at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday.
All expected Sri Lanka to rule the game but it was not to be as the visitors turned in a fighting performance to pull off the game 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20.

The whole match lasted for one hour and seven minutes.

In the first set Sri Lanka started promisingly and showed signs of emerging winners. However Taiwan, slowly but surely got their act together to pull off the first set at 25-22. They asserted themselves in the remaining sets to win 25-20 and 25-20.

Although the game was neck-to-neck Sri Lanka lacked the know-how to get the better of the Taiwanese.
Sri Lanka even though losing the game has qualified for the second round.
