‘Kandy View’: For nature lovers

Kandy View Hotel indeed has a bird's eye view to get the best aerial view of the city of Kandy. This four storied property is situated in a magnificent location off Ampitiya Road, and is bordering the eastern part of the Dunumadalawal rain forest off Hantane Reserve.

From the roof top restaurant of the Hotel, nature lovers can watch monkeys at close range in the trees at the Dunumadalawal rain forest. ‘There are some spectacular birds be spotted ranging from the huge Black Eagle to tiny sunbirds’ said Kanchana Ranasinghe, the young proprietor of the venture.

Though the Hotel is just four years old, it has gained recognition as a popular destination in the hills from the top travel agents and foreign clientele, with in a very short time of operation.‘We get quite a number of repeat guests and that shows Kandy View Hotel is popular with overseas guests and Sri Lankan travellers. Weekends are always patronized by Sri Lankans' he added.

Kandy View Hotel has ten well appointed rooms and one Suite Room with all modern amenities such as Cable/Satellite TV, tea/coffee facilities, A/C, telephone and h/c water.

The latest addition to the hotel is the swimming pool, which came into operation last year. The main restaurant located at the roof top level has a magnificent view of Kandy.

'This is just not a place to relax, but many are using as a centre for excursions' he said. Kandy View is in an excellent position to visit some of Sri Lanka's most famous sites, some of them World Heritage Sites in their own right.

The Hotel is within walking distance of the Temple of the Tooth, Kandy Town, Kandyan Dancing Centre, Traditional Ayurveda and Herbal treatment Centre in the city.

'Kandy itself is a World Heritage site and we are very close to the Temple of the Tooth, Kandy Lake, and only a short drive from the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya' Kanchana said.

Famous Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala, Knuckles Mountain range, Sigiriya, Dambulla Rock Caves, Hunnasgiriya, popular Corbett's Gap, Mahiyanganaya, Victoria, Randenigala and Rantambe reservouirs are located just a couple of hours drive from the City.
