Ghany holds on to top slot

Bata-The Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contests

Thomian allrounder Naveed Ghany holds on to the lead that he wrested from Royalist Haroon Mowjood at the end of the tenth count of the Bata-The Sunday Times Most Popular All Island Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest.

At the end of this count Ghany who has accumulated 14,088 votes, is 519 votes ahead of Mowjood who has polled 13,569 votes. Eighty votes behind Mowjood is Milan Fernando – the other Thomian cricketer who initially led the contest up to the seventh count.

In the Outstation Contest Palian Ishan Thilina Athureliya once again has climbed to the top position and has 1562 votes against his name. Kalutara Tissa MMV’s R.A. Dinesh Chathuranga is 72 votes behind the leader of this category and had totalled 1490 votes.

Besides the happenings at the top, there are two new entrants in the Outstation and the International categories. In the Outstation category the new entrant is Vidyartha’s Maduka Weerasinghe while Amal International’s M.N.M. Fayaz is the new comer in the International category.
