Kalu takes over Malaysian cricket

Former Sri Lanka opening batsman and wicket-keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana who formed a deadly duo with Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the national coach of Malaysia.

The 38-year-old former wicketkeeper-batsman who is the current coach of Colts Cricket Club which he also captained has focused on a career in coaching since ending his 15-year international career in 2004.

Colts CC’s K. Mathivanan speaking to The Sunday Times said that Kaluwitharana will be in charge of the Malaysian national team to prepare them for the next world cup which will be played in the Indian sub-continent.

This is the first time that Kaluwitharana is handling a national squad.
