National conference on human resources management in June

The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) Sri Lanka will hold its annual National Conference on Human Resources Management, on June 2-3 at the BMICH. The theme of this year’s conference will be “People Drive Business’ and will focus on the best HR practices to meet business challenges, HR value creation, meeting the expectations of stakeholders, the importance of HRM , the need to strategize HRM and develop the competencies of its practitioners.

The conference will be addressed by several foreign experts in the field of HR. Among them will be Professor Dave Ulrich, Professor of Business at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan and HR Guru, who will address the conference via satellite.

Prof.Ulrich is the winner of the Georges Petipas Memorial Award in 2000 from the World Federation of Personnel Management Association for lifetime contribution to human resources management and was ranked as the most influential HR person by HR Magazine in 2006. The Chief Guest and keynote speaker at the Conference will be Director General of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Geoff Armstrong, also Past President of the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations.

The Guest Speaker on the occasion will be Professor of Organisational Behaviour –London Business School Prof.Rob Goffee and his presentation at the conference will be based on his latest book, “Why should anyone be led by you.” The business leader’s forum which is also part of the conference will consist of MD, Commercial Bank Amitha Goonaratne, CEO/Group MD, Browns Group of Companies N.Murali Prakash, MD WINS Global Services (Pvt) Ltd Dushan Soza and MD/CEO Holcim (Lanka) Ltd. Peter Spirig. The moderator on the occasion will be Dinesh Weerakkody, MD, Comucopia Lanka Ltd.
