Prosperity Index by month end

The Central Bank’s Prosperity Index (PI) is to be launched towards the end of the month, according to a top official. “It is ready to be launched after the New Year holidays. We are planning to launch it towards the end of April,” Nivard Cabraal, Governor Central Bank told The Sunday Times FT.

The PI was to be launched on March 31, but the regulator was preparing its annual report for last year, which took precedence.

The PI tracks the prosperity of livelihood, economic infrastructure, well-being, etc of different regions. Cabraal said the PI has tracked these indicators during the last five years in different regions.

PI also computes the crime rates, poverty levels, educational levels, etc of the population.
