Another Royal- Thomian brewing!

Royalist Haroon Mawjood impressed at the end of count number four

It seems that there another Royal-Thomian battle is in the offing. Thomian’s leg spinner Milan Fernando who looked as if he was breaking away from the pack at the end of count number three is once again hotly pursued by Royalist Haroon Mawjood in this weeks count. Both Fernando and Mawjood have passed the four figure mark and the latter trails by only 286 votes.

The other contestant who has shown a marked improvement is Josephian Dimuth Karunaratne.

Karunaratne who was occupying slot number nine at the end of the last count now has moved to the fifth place – just behind last week’s runner-up Ashan Priyanjana who is at third place and Ryan Kern of Wesley College who is in fourth place.

There is one other surprise in the All Island Contest. At the end of this count another Thomian has moved on to the tenth place with a total of 134 votes to his credit.

Even in the Outstation Contest the scramble for the top spot is tense. This week once again Palian Ishan Athureliya has wrested the lead from Tharaka Dushantha of Tissa MMV, Kalutara.

Moving on to the International contest, after three long weeks there is a change in the line up which incidentally has only three nominees. At the end of this count, Asian International’s Adel Bakeer Markar has jumped into the second position at the expense of Gateway International cricketer Adel Niyaz.

N.B: The name of Chalitha Dharmaprema of Kingswood College, Kandy who was inadvertently included in the Outstation contest has been omitted as the school that he represents belong to the All Island category and at the end of this count he has not received enough votes to be among the first ten.
