Centenary pack holiday

The Little Friends of St. Mary's Convent, Matara, organized a Pack Holiday on January 25 – 27, 2008, at the Primary School premises.Fourteen Little Friends including myself, participated in this programme. We were in four groups. They were Sunbeams, Doves, Raindrops and Spotted Deer.Mrs. Daya Wickremasinghe was the license holder of the Pack Holiday.Mrs. Hermione Weeratunga (Quarter Master), Rev. Sr. Shirani (Health Nurse) and Miss Kanthi Jagoda (Primary School Principal) helped us throughout the event.

We made towel racks, shoe racks, basin holders and cloth racks with sticks and strings. We started our Pack Holiday with an opening ceremony. I did the welcome speech and Esini talked about the 'Thought of the day.'

On the following morning, we prepared breakfast and it was a new experience for us. The day was very exciting as we organized a bonfire which started at 6 p.m. Senior Guides of our school helped us to handle the wood and kerosene oil for the bonfire.

In the evening all the invitees arrived to watch the bonfire. All the Senior Guides and Little Friends took part in this event. At the end, the Commissioner delivered a speech and held a prize giving. I got a prize for the best Little Friend and Kavindi got the second prize. Our group (Sunbeams) got a prize for the best six (group).

On the following day, we had our breakfast, packed our things back, said goodbye to everybody and went home with the sweet and unforgettable memories of our Pack Holiday.

My dear friends, I invite you to be a Little Friend and get lots of experiences and enjoy yourselves.
