Tigers roar loud and clear Down Under

Tamil Tiger agents in Australia are carrying on their clandestine fund-raising operations and propaganda under the very noses of the Australian authorities who are supposed to clamp down on these illegal activities. Australia has banned the Tamil Tigers under UN Security Council Resolution 1373. The former Liberal government took a strong stand against Tamil Tiger agents by arresting their leaders and putting them on trial.

But under the new Labour government the Tamil Tigers are boldly violating the law with the Foreign Office and the law enforcing authorities turning a blind eye to Tiger activities.

Last week Tiger propaganda turned vicious with attacks on Tamils who now back the Indian-sponsored 13th Amendment. Dr. Noel Nadesan, Editor of the leading Tamil community newspaper, Uthayam, backed the 13th Amendment as a way forward for the Tamils. The pro-Tiger radio blasted him last week for accepting the Indian-sponsored 13th Amendment.

Tamil propaganda is also directed at India for backing the Mahinda Rajapaksa government. Apart from anti-Indian and anti-peace broadcasts, the Tiger radio stations are whipping up the war propaganda of the Tigers with direct appeals from Tiger leaders in the Wanni. These broadcasts glorify Tiger terrorist activities. So far Australia has not moved to honour its commitment to international law on this issue.
