Deyata Kirula lottery draw tomorrow

The Development Lotteries Board (DLB) has failed to meet the Deyata Kirula lottery sales target of Rs 6 million and the management was thus forced to postpone the lottery draw scheduled on March 10.

DLB General Manager J.D.C. Jayasinghe told The Sunday Times FT that the drop in sales of the lottery was due to the reduced number of days of the Deyata Kirula exhibition which concluded on February 10. The draw will now be conducted tomorrow, he said.

The sale of' Deyata Kirula' lottery exceeded Rs. 1.7 million but at least 50 percent of the target of Rs 6 million need to be recovered to meet the costs of prizes including a hand tractor , motorcycle and a brand new jeep, another senior official of the DLB said.

Offcials said the management had obtained the approval of Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya to announce the new date causing some delay in the public announcement.
