A Poem for the Week

The fairies dancing ground

Stay where you are,
Don't make a sound,
This is the fairies'
Dancing ground.

Look thro' the leaves,
You'll be surprised,
This is the sight,
That meets the eyes.

Pan plays his pipes,
The spring elf jigs,
The birds they dance,
In their nest of twigs.

The flower fairies,
Join them too,
In cowslip caps,
And gowns of blue.

The squirrels and chipmunks,
Scramble down trees,
And join in the merriment,
That carries on in the breeze.

And now you've come,
And seen and found,
The little people's
Dancing ground!

A letter to Santa Claus

My dear Santa,

I know that you are a very generous person and you love children. But last year, you didn't come to my house, and you forgot to give me a Christmas present. I was unhappy about that. But I am not angry with you. Don't do it this time. Don't neglect me.
Please think of me. I am a poor girl of Grade Three. There is no one to give me presents. My parents cannot afford to buy me presents. Therefore please come to see me on Christmas night with a nice doll, a beautiful frock and some toys. I am expecting you on Christmas night!

Your lovingly,
Nirasha Perera (8 years)
