2 Gold Diplomas not Gold medals

At the Asian Choir Games held in Jakarta , Indonesia earlier this month, the Sri Lanka choir Revelations won a gold medal in the Gospel and Spiritual category bagging the title of Champion after receiving the highest marks at the Championship level while Voices in Harmony won two Gold Diplomas in the Asian Open Section.

Revelations also won a silver medal in the Sacred Music category at the Asian Championship and a Gold Diploma in the Male Vocal Ensemble category of the Asian Open.

The Asian Choir Games are held at two levels - the Championships and the Open. Any choir without prior international experience has to first take part in a qualifying round and if they get more than 6 marks, qualify to take part in the 'Asian Choir Championship'. If, however, they get less than 6 marks they qualify for the 'Asian Open'. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded at the Asian Choir Championships while gold, silver and bronze diplomas are awarded in the Asian Open.

In the article 'Voices from Lanka, Asia's Best' in the Plus of November 18, it was inadvertently stated that Voices in Harmony won two gold medals at the Asian Choir Games when in fact they had won two Gold Diplomas in the Asian Open Section.

The error is regretted.
