Super 10 to recognise the best HRM practices in business establishments

The improvement in the quality of Sri Lankan workforce in terms of knowledge, competencies, skills and attitudes and thereby to build a world class workforce is the present need for local enterprises to be competitive in the global market, according to human resources (HR) professionals in the country.

For this purpose, HR can contribute by building effective HR Outfits in organisations and also establishing a mechanism at national level to develop competencies, to improve the quality of workforce which in turn would increase the productivity thus encouraging prospective investors to invest in Sri Lanka Association of HR Professionals (HRP) Niroshan Silva said addressing the media on Tuesday, launching the HRM Awards 2007 - super 10. Wijeya Newspapers Ltd and MTV are the media sponsors of the event.

Project Chairman Isuru Thilakawardane said that the awards presentation ceremony will be held in early February 2008 highlighting Human Resources Management as a pivotal component of modern day business. Participating companies will be judged by an expert panel of judges headed by Professor Gunapala Nanayakkara.

He said the HRM Awards 2007 presents companies with a vital opportunity to benchmark their HRM strategies, initiatives and achievements against those of their competitors and the best in the business, through a rigorous and completely confidential process.

The companies ranked among the super 10 will be given special awards for their innovative strategies, while the balance 10 will also be recognized and felicitated at the awards ceremony. The awards are open to all public and private sector organizations with a minimum of 50 employees and at least one HRM specialist that have been operational in the past five years in Sri Lanka .
