    A Poem for the week

My favourite character in a book

As reading makes a real man I read a lot of books that are beautiful and enchanting. My favourite book is 'The Faraway Tree.' The characters are Jo, Bessie, Fanny, Silky and Moonface.

From all those characters I chose Silky as my favourite because she is a kind and sweet-hearted pixie. She has long silky hair that flows behind her like mist. And she never speaks bad of people. Silky is good mannered and can make tasty treats. Everyone likes her and enjoys her as well.

Silky always helps others as well. If something happens to the tree she runs down to the roots and cures it with her kindness.

The witch

The witch is an old, ugly woman
Who flies on her broomstick everywhere
Her nose is crooked and also her chin
And she has wiry hair

Wrinkles all over her face
She wears a pointed hat
I think her best
companion's
That big, black cat

Makes magic potions
really irky
With extraordinary things
Like tails of rats and noses of bugs
Or edges of bats wings

She lives in an old,
straggly house
Surrounded by a fence very bright
Skulls and bones are placed on it
Giving off weird lights

My wish is that to never ever
Meet such a witch
If I'd meet this strange woman
It'd make my poor nose twitch!

The best/worst thing about cricket

Cricket is a lively, active game that often gets the full attention of grown-ups and children. There are many advantages in cricket, but you have to accept it all as a team. Some of the advantages are you get to learn team spirit, get better at cricket; it's a great exercise for your body too.

Also you can be famous and if your are very good in cricket you might someday even be known as a hero of your country.

Many rules are found in cricket and if it looks like a dismissal, but the umpire says 'no' it may seem unfair. And sometimes you feel really sad when you get out. But I don't think these make cricket seem hard. In fact, it makes it seem a whole lot more exciting and fun!

Practice and determination play an important role in the game of cricket too.
