HUT shuts too

By Sanath Weerasuriya

'The Hut', one of the oldest and most popular and night clubs in town, closes its doors for revelers from today, 15 April.

Wildfire in action

The date of reopening is undecided, but the management says the night club will be back in time for the December Festive season.

'We will be closing down the club to change the entire atmosphere and the image of the Hut. We want to cater to more mature audiences with mature music. It will be for members only or sort of invitation basis to avoid unhealthy situation at the club. We are sure the Hut will swing back to its old glory, once the facelift is completed' said Bazeer Cassim, the Director/ General Manager of the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

However unconfirmed reports say this could be the end of an era for the legendary Hut, which existed for more than four decades.

The management however is optimistic that the Little Hut will come back to life soon. The band house band Wildfire will perform at the Hut till the last day.
