Keep those letters rolling, until officials wake up

By R. Fernando, Panadura

With reference to the letter appearing in The Sunday Times of March 18, by P.A. Binduhewa of Panadura, titled “What can children do when, adults are bad”, I will be thankful if valuable letters of this nature are published several times until they catch the eye of those who propose educational reforms. The Dharmishta Society promised by politicians is no more.

The word “discipline” should now be erased from the Dictionary. There was a time when letters to the Editor had an impact on readers - especially politicians.

But now they go unnoticed because the majority of our politicians are deaf and blind. Now education is only to obtain a job. The hallmark of status is to say that your child attends a leading school.
