Triple for Rutnam

Rutnam SC made it triple when they beat their arch rivals Kalutara Blue Stars by 3 goals to one in the final of the Champions of Champions Trophy Football match played at the Sugathadasa Stadium, yesterday.

At half time the winners led at 1-0.

The champion player for the winners was their forward Kasun Jayasuriya who also made it a triple for himself by doing all the scoring for them. With 31 goals for the season Kasun also becomes the highest goal scorer of the season.

Kasun’s first goal came in the 9th minute of the game first half and then he followed it up with another two in the 65th and 73rd minutes.

For Kalutara their solitary goal was scored by Mohammed Farzeen – a mid-fielder. However they also missed an golden opportunity of scoring another when Mohammed Rameez missed an easy penalty which was awarded to them in front.
There were three red cards – two for Blue Stars and one for Rutnam.

With this win the winners walked away with a prize bag of Rs. 300,000/- while the losers received Rs100,000/-.
