‘Mayavi’ moves with mysteries

Nimal Ratnayake's ‘Mayavi’, telecast on weekdays at 9.00 pm on Swarnavahini is a tale of many twists and turns. Woven around a poor three-wheel driver and a village girl the drama unfolds showing the lives that destroys due to the greed for wealth and deceptions.

Nilmini Tennekoon, Sanjaya Lilaratne, Geetha Kanthi Jayakodi, Nihal Fernando, Ratna Lalani Jayakodi, Hemasiri Liyanage, Seetha Kumari, Buddhika Lokuhetiya, Hansamala Janaki, Prasannajith Abeysooriya, Elan Silvester, Sunil Hettiarachchi, Damitha Saluwadane, Vini Wettasinghe and Lakmal Salgadu star in thi steledrama.

Sunil is a taxi driver living peacefully in a village with his mother. His dream is to become wealthy and he loves to makes friends and associate with men from the higher strata of wealthy society. One day he meets a young beautiful girl call 'Ramani'.

Ramani is a girl who has come from a rural village and is working in a garment factory. She is being helped by one of her friends. This friend has faced a lot of difficulties in her life like Ramani. One day Ramani accidentally kills a man. This was while she was trying to escape from a place where young girls were being used for prostitution.

After facing all these she tries to commit suicide and Sunil saves her and takes her to his residence. Sunil convinces his mother, sister and brother that Ramani is his girl friend and that he intends to marry her soon. So they welcome her.

Sunil feels sorry for Ramani after listening to her story. During this period Sunil loses his vehicle and faced with lot of hardships. He fails to find employment job. Finally he decides to look for an overseas job with Ramani.

While Sunil and Ramani are searching for ways to find money to go abroad, they meet one of Sunil's old friends, Abeyrathne. He is a person who was looking after a land with a bungalow and shows to the world that he is the owner of that bungalow. Cunning Abeyrathne plans to publish a paper advertisement under marriage proposals saving that Ramani is Abeyrathne's daughter and Sunil's sister.

Wickramasinghe an underworld leader who introduced himself as a gem businessmen responds to the proposal. Wickramasinghe wishes to marry Ramani. However Ramani starts loving Wickramasinghe betraying the plot made by Aheyrathne and Sunil. Ramani gives all the money to Wickramasinghe which Sunil gave her after selling his house.

While Sunil and Abeyrathne try to implement their plans, Sunil gets killed by Wickramasinghe. Ramani and Abeyrathne get caught to Police while they were trying to sell the artificial gems. Once the Police take Wickramasinghe into the custody Ramani realize that Sunil was murdered by Wickramasinghe and he is a hoax. Story takes a dramatic turn and ends in an unexpected climax.

'Mayavi' is Edited by Jagath Weerathuriga and scripted by Kapila Kumara Atupelage, camera by Chinthaka Somakeerthi and make up by Janaka Ranasinghe. Art Director is Sumathi Kudaligama, music director is Gayan Ganakadara and the miniplay is produced by Nilmini Tennekoon Sagara Vipula Shantha.
