The power of words

The spoken word, they say, is more powerful than most other modes of expression. To convince, defeat, argue, satisfy – any of these could be achieved with the skilful usage of the amazing art of speaking. And debating, is undoubtedly, one of its most versatile versions.

 
Christmas glow extinguished ?

Thinking of Christmas now, the line from Band Aid's "Do they know it’s Christmas-time at all?" comes to mind. And not just in the sense they meant it, but in a whole different sense more relevant to "our times" you could say. It's not just about the people in the war-ridden parts of our land who would probably feel no different come Christmas or any other day for that matter, but rather, I refer to us all… Does Christmas mean nothing to us anymore? Can we officially announce the death of the Christmas Spirit?
 
Santa's a click away this Christmas

Today, as you spread out the Mirror Magazine with your morning tea in hand and lean back on the sofa, Santa and his little elves are busying themselves with all their last minutes preps and check-ups. Thanks to the latest technology at their disposal, the tasks that used to take months to get completed are now carried out with a click of a mouse and a press of a button on Christmas Eve.
