‘Thunmanhandiya’ on Rupavahini

A festival of films will be screened every Sunday in December on Rupavahini channel depicting famous literally works.

Starting with Mahagama Sekara's 'Thunmanhandiya' on (today) at 12.15 pm, films based on T. B. Ilangaratne' s 'Thilaka and Thilaka' (Dec. 10), Karunasena Jayalath's 'Gehenu Lamai' (Dec. 17), Leonard Woolf's 'Village in the Jungle' (Beddegama) (Dec. 24) and Edward Mallawarachchi's 'Loku Duwa' (Dec 31) will be screened.

'Thunmanhandiya' scripted and directed by Mahagama Sekara was played by Joe Abeywickrema, Swarna Mallawarachchi, Shanthi Lekha, Somasiri Denipitiya and Denwaka Hamine.

'Thilaka Saha Thilaka' directed by Amaranath Jayathilake and played by Karunaratne Hangawatte, Vajita Nilmini, Somalatha Subasinghe, G. W. Surendra, P. T. Wickremasinghe, Daya Alwis, Jayalath Manoratne, Nissanka Diddeniya and Ranjith Suranga will be screened on December 10.

Sumithra Peries' 'Gehenu lamai' starring Vasanthi Chathurani, Ajith Jinadasa, Shyama Ananda and Jenita Samaraweera telecast on December 17. Beddegama directed by Lester James Peries' will be on December 24. Joe Abeywickrema, Henry Jayasena, Trilicia Gunawardena, Malani Fonseka, Tony Ranasinghe, Nadeeka Gunasekara and D. R. Karunaratne are in the stellar cast.

The final film 'Loku Duwa' directed by Sumithra Peries will be screened on Sunday December 31 and it stars Gamini Fonseka, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Joe Abeywickrema, Irangani Serasinghe, Kamal Addararachchi, Jackson Anthony, Nadeeka Gunasekara and Veena Jayakody.
