A company statement says that strawberry is grown in open fields and poly tunnels in the Nuwara Eliya District. “With top of line operations and quality control systems in place, Jagro is ready to market premium quality strawberry across the island and beyond Sri Lanka. Jagro strawberries are fresh and stem picked and packed within minutes of harvesting, and storing of a temperature at 2, it can have an optimum shelf life of up to 2 weeks,” it said.

Strawberries are being called a nutritional super food because they are an excellent source of antioxidants including Vitamin C, and have high levels of Potassium, Folate and Fiber.

Meanwhile Jagro with Wijaya newspapers is hosting 'Jagro-Wijaya Strawberry Fun Day' on December 10 at Excel World for 500 lucky kids. They will have an opportunity to taste red and juicy strawberries both as fresh fruit and as jam and topping from jagro strawberry fields in Sri Lanka at this Strawberry Fun Day.

Lots of fun is planned around the theme of strawberry. The strawberry twins Jagro & Jagro would welcome all the kids and a series of competitions and games such as strawberry hoops, frozen strawberries, strawberry hunt and many more has been planned out. These lucky kids could take home strawberry jam and lots of red juicy strawberry fruit. A cookery demonstration has been organized for freshly plucked strawberries to be turned into mouth watering Cheese Cakes, Smoothies, Strawberry Milk Shake, etc.
