CSE’s successful Fund Managers Conference in Singapore

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) successfully concluded a strong pitch at Fund Managers based in Singapore at an investment forum held in Singapore last week.

A top level delegation, led by the CSE Chairman Nihal Fonseka, included key note speaker Nivard Cabraal, Governor of the Central Bank, Shehan Ratnavale, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Singapore and Gamini Wickremasinghe, Chairman of the Securities & Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.

“CSE CEO Surekha Sellahewa, SEC Director General Channa De Silva, a 30-strong stockbroker delegation including several Chief Executives of local brokerage houses and a representative from a foreign bank providing custodian services locally were also in Singapore last week in support of this initiative,” according to a CSE statement.

Four of the top listed companies in terms of market capitalization were showcased at the forum. Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, CEO Dialog Telekom, Ajit Gunewardena, Deputy Chairman John Keells Holdings, Amitha Gooneratne, Managing Director Commercial Bank and Shuhei Anan, Chief Executive Sri Lanka Telecom made presentations and answered questions from interested Fund managers.

Titled “Explore the Potential”, the investment forum which was held on November 22, was organized in association with the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore, and attracted interest from a significant number of Fund Managers as evidenced from a well attended forum.

The CSE said the event also received wide exposure in the Singapore financial press which included live interviews telecast globally showcasing the Colombo market.
