Joes chalk up fifth outright win

St Joseph’s beat the rain to record their fifth outright win of the ongoing Under 20 Elephant Lemonade inter-school cricket season when they registered a seven wicket win over Meepawala Amarasuriya MMV at Darley Road yesterday.

Joes took the upper hand on the first day’s play after bowling out their opponents for just 74 and then supported by Dimuth Karunaratne who was unfortunate to miss the ton for the second successive week making 92 and Anton de Livera’s 56 n.o helping them declare on 220 for 2.

Zahira chasing a target of 281 for victory were bolwed for 119 with Hasitha capturing 8 for 26 following his 6 for 36 in the first innings.
