CCC’s Best Corporate Citizen award 2006

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in its continuing effort to promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the business community will announce its “Best Corporate Citizen 2006” at the awards ceremony on November 2 at Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand.

This year’s award is in association with The World Conservation Union (IUCN), whose Sri Lanka Business and Biodiversity Programme assesses the current level of corporate environmental responsibility within Sri Lanka's business sector and facilitates best practices.

Naoko Ishii, Country Director, World Bank is the chief guest at this year’s event while the keynote address would be by Mohammed Rafiq, Head of the Business and Biodiversity Program, IUCN.

The award, in its third year now, evaluates its applicants on five categories before selecting the “Best Corporate Citizen”. Leading up to the grand award, best practices in Community Relations and Society, Employee relations, Customer/ Supplier relations, Economic Performance, and Environment will be rewarded with awards to the top three corporates in two categories i.e. large scale and small and medium scale. Awards will also be given to the winners of each stakeholder category and to the top 10 Best Corporate Citizens.
