Rupavahini’s Newton ends transmission

Newton Gunaratne who resigned from the post of Chairman Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation saying he can no longer work in that institution, is to continue as Presidential Media Director (Electronic media).

Mr. Gunaratne was instructed by Media Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa to resign this week. He was offered a post in the Media Ministry, but he turned down the offer.

Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has advised SLBC Chairman Sunil Sarath Perera to remain in his post despite moves to appoint him as Environment Ministry Secretary. SLBC employees had opposed Mr. Perera’s transfer.
