Port congestion issue sorted out

The Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council, an affiliate of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, said last week that the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the Sri Lanka Navy have taken appropriate steps to reduce the congestion and long queues, which was affecting the inflow of export containers for some time.

The Council expressed its appreciation to Shantha Weerakoon, Director of Merchant Shipping, Ministry of Ports and Aviation, for his timely action taken after discussions the Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council had with him. The Director Merchant Shipping assured the shippers that all possible steps would be taken to facilitate the export industry, which brings in important foreign exchange to the country.
