Govt. reassures panic-stricken Mutur Muslims
The government yesterday rushed a high-level
delegation to Mutur to reassure Muslims who have begun
to leave the area once again in the face of fresh warning
leaflets from a suspected LTTE front.
Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Presidential
Advisor Basil Rajapaksa, JVP parliamentary group leader
Wimal Weerawansa and JHU MP Ven. Athureliye Ratana Thera
met the Mutur Muslims and urged them to remain in the
area. They assured that adequate security would be provided
to them.
The leaflets, purportedly issued by
an organsiation called ‘Tamil Eelam Redemption
Force”, have warned that the LTTE is to launch
a fresh attack on Mutur and the Muslims will be targeted
again.
