Regional business community accelerates peace

The Business for Peace Alliance (BPA), a network of all the main regional business chambers of commerce throughout Sri Lanka, on the occasion of the International Peace day last week, has reaffirmed its commitment towards accelerating the efforts of the regional business community to building peace and reconciliation. In a statement the BPA said it joins peace makers throughout the world on this special day to foster and bring about peace and reconciliation in all parts of the world which are torn by violent conflicts and innocent human beings are subject to severe human rights violations, threats to human security, attacks and killings.

The BPA welcomed the initiatives made by President Mahinda Rajapakse to work together with the main opposition to formulate a negotiated settlement to the conflict in Sri Lanka.

The BPA believes that the conflict can be solved only through a political solution with the involvement of all the stakeholders in the conflict. The BPA appeals to all to get together and stop all violent activities and abuse of human rights and brutal killing and work collectively to bring back peace and stability.
