Cornucopia Asia introduces HR audits here

Cornucopia Asia, a Regional Human Resources Consultancy represented in Sri Lanka by Cornucopia Lanka, says many companies are beginning to realize the strategic benefit of outsourcing Human Resource Functions.

However some Human Resource Departments are still struggling to move the function from being primarily administrative to one that performs value-added activities and provides organizations with strategic support, it said in a press release.

Many HR Departments in India have been successful in starting to move towards a more business-focused role, but has yet to achieve its real vision.

There is evidence that HR is still not achieving the ultimate vision of being recognized as a strategic business partner even though it often does deliver improved administrative services to the business. In many cases HR Departments gets stuck in the middle, meaning it is often saddled with increasing investments in new HR technology and processes but is not yet able to gain the strategic and financial benefits of the new HR. Cornucopia says the following factors make it difficult for HR functions to transform itself completely into a strategic business partner;

* No compelling vision
* No support from the CEO
* Poor HR delivery
* Lack of Competence of HR Staff
* Not using the new HR technology available

Cornucopia says they can help organizations to overcome these pitfalls by advising and supporting firms to achieve that transformation and selling that vision to the business and their own HR staff, and also ensuring that the resources and the plans are in place so that the changes can succeed to provide good customer service to employees; making effective use of technology; and shifting more resources to performing value-added activities.

According to Dinesh Weerakkody of Cornucopia Sri Lanka, the company has already done many HR audits for many local companies to help Human Resource departments to assess the current state, develop a business vision for the future, market the vision to the business and to the HR staff and to improve on service delivery. This helps HR Departments to move from being labeled as a cost centre and be seen more and more as a direct contributor to the company bottom-line.
