CC crisis to Select Committee

The first meeting of the Select Committee to look into deficiencies in the 17th Amendment to the Constitution will be held on October 3. Twenty one members have been named to the committee which will be headed by Constitutional Affairs Minister D.E.W. Gunasekera. The main aim of the committee is to overcome the deadlock faced in the setting up of the Constitutional Council (CC) due to disagreement between the smaller parties in Parliament.
