* The SAG lanterns (Atapattam) that decorated the streets adjacent to the Sugathadasa Stadium had cost a staggering 4.5 million. It is also reported that some were even finished with tissue paper and had to be removed in a few hours after they had got caught to the rain. Heard some saying, “What wastage of money”.

* After the sprint kings and queens had won their ‘golds, they partied. It led to a huge spat when they tried to force alcohol on another athlete, who had apparently refused. Finally this ‘silver’ medalist had broken down.

* The SAG dates Aug 18-28 were arrived upon after ascertaining data for the past 20 years in the City of Colombo. Still Mother Nature had the last laugh.

* Prez called up a meeting with all the SAG officials just before the games got underway. However the man with a ‘sneering’ name was late for the meeting. An angry Prez berated him and told him a senior man like you should be an example for the others.

* Football kith and kin were occupying the Journors seats during the SAG football final. Only a sharp-eyed press officer saved the day for them with some timely action.

* The hiring charges for the lazer machine at the games cost Rs. 15 million. They say you can buy a new one for Rs. 10 million.

* It is also reported that it cost Rs. 70 million for the dancers at the opening and closing ceremonies.
