The American College of Higher Education (ACHE), one of the pioneer private educational institutions in Sri Lanka, holds its annual graduation ceremony this year at the Earls Regency Hotel, Kandy on October 28.

ACHE is the pioneer in American education in Sri Lanka with considerably long experience and up to –date resources. The main campus of ACHE is located at Dehiwela. With the rapid expansion with three branches located in Kandy, Galle and Negombo, it said it is is now well equipped to better serve the aspirants of higher education, professionals and employment seekers.

The institution said in a statement that over the past 10 years it has passed several important milestones in providing education not only to Sri Lankan students but also students of neighboring countries like the Maldives, India and Bangladesh.

Being the pioneer in introducing the American system of education it has so far been able to transfer more than 400 students to universities in the United States, Canada and many other western countries.

“Our 2+2 Degree Programme has become very popular with its facility to complete two years at the institute and the balance two years at a foreign university. This program makes it possible for students to select subjects among more than five hundred subjects leading to either an associate or a full degree. This helps students save more than 80% of the total cost for completing a degree in the US or any other foreign country,” it said.

Provisions are also in place for the completion of the degree locally and be conferred the degree by the Excelsior College, United States.

This is a four year degree program totally conducted by the Institution in four major disciplines, namely Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, Bachelor of Science in General Business, Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems.

In addition the Institution also conducts educational programs at certificate and diploma levels in more than seventy fields of study specially for the benefit of the job-seekers and mid-career personnel. Diploma In Management, Diploma in Marketing, Diploma in Business studies, Diploma in Psychology, Advanced Diploma in Counseling Psychology, Diploma in child Psychology are some of the popular programs.

The American College has been academically linked to the Broward Community College Florida, USA and the Excelsior College Ohio USA. It said it hoped these academic partnerships will eventually be further strengthened. Such programmes will help the institution to realize its ideal of contributing to the creation of a knowledge based society in which every member of the community participates in education and training throughout life.

The Kandy Campus of the American College of Higher Education as its first branch has been very successful from its inception in 1997. It has become a much sought after educational centre catering to the needs of students coming from a very wide area.
