Popular singer Lobo will come alive in a one off Concert at the Waters Edge on August 31 at 8.00pm.

U S born Roland Kent LaVoie popularly known as Lobo will be in Sri Lanka as apart of his Asian Tour. The singer will be in Colombo on August 29, just two days prior to his Concert and will leave in early hours on September 1. He will be in action at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands in Malaysia on September 2 and he will be featured in a concert at the Esplanade in Singapore on 3rd. The singer will be in Bangkok on September 5 and in Taipei on 11.

Lobo will accompany his band of seven members and most of his performances will be unplugged.

Lobo came into limelight in early sixties and most of his songs became hits and are still popular in Sri Lanka.

'Standing at the end of the line', Stoney', 'Yellow river', Tears on my pillow', 'Me and you and dog named boo', 'I'd love you to want me', 'A simple man', Shelter of your eyes', 'Whispers in the wing' and 'One more time' are some of the big hits in Sri Lanka.

Over a four year period in the 1970's, Lobo made the singles chart 14 times. Top 40 hits seemed never ending. His folk-country flavored "I'd Love You to Want Me", "Don't Expect Me to Be Your Friend" and "Me And You And A Dog Named Boo" won positions in the USA's Top listings on "Adult Contemporary" radio stations.

Lobo's popularity has recently taken a significant upswing in the Asian market primarily due to his recent releases of new albums for Ponycanyon Records out of Singapore titled 'Asian Moon' and a collection of standard favourites called "Classics" which includes some of his earlier hits and several new recordings of classic hits like "The End Of The World", "Dream Lover", "Will You Still Love Me Tomarrow" and many more.

He has also just released an album of all new original songs titled "Sometimes" recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with some of the top studio musicians in the world. His newest recording titled "You must remember this" is scheduled for release this summer with the new and innovative company "Springroll" in conjunction with Ponycanyon Records. This album is a collection of older standards such as, "Teach Me Tonight", "PS I Love You", "Moonglow" and more. The album was recorded in the traditional style of the generation they were first recored in which makes for a wonderful listening record.

The Hump hits a bump

It is confirmed, that Hump will not be returning to keep his date with his Colombo fans at The Water's Edge!

His management confirmed this last week.

It's also unlikely he would be returning to KL and Manila - his other missed appointments on his ill-fated tour - after he recovers from his attack of laryngitis.

He's due to do a four-day session at The New Orleans Casino in Las Vegas on July 20 to 23 and is not likely, considering his age, he would want to travel all the way to Southeast Asia for two days in KL and another show in Manila before The New Orleans dates.

Colombo! may be next year . . . who knows?!
