head obtains anticipatory bail
Tourist Board Chairman Udaya Nanayakkara has obtained
anticipatory bail and has been directed to appear before the Commission
investigating Bribery and Corruption on Tuesday to make a statement
about charges related to corruption regarding the construction of
a building of the Board.
Mr. Nanayakkara was directed to appear before
the Commission early this week, but had got himself admitted to
hospital.
Subsequently he had obtained anticipatory bail
from Fort Magistrate Namal Balalle with a guarantee that he would
appear before the Commission.
On June 18, Mr. Nanayakkara was prevented from
leaving the country for the “Refreshingly Sri Lanka”
tourism promotion organized by the Foreign Ministry in London.
