Put your House in order

A letter appeared in the TV Times of 11.06.06 from a ‘Frustrated television viewer from Colombo’, stated that programs Mahagedera, Wasuda, Praveena and Chitti are telecast from 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. on weekdays and housewives are glued to the TV neglecting the house, husband and children.

The writer's suggestion is that these programs should be telecast from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. on weekdays to avoid disrupting family life.

I am sure the writer is ignorant of daily lifestyles as otherwise he would not have made such a silly suggestion. The school going children return tired after a hard days work by 3.00 p.m. or even later. Then they go for private tuition, sports, etc. Majority of housewives are employed and return only about 6.00 p.m. Preparations for dinner has to be done and many other chores completed.
If these programs are telecast at the times suggested by the writer, then there won't be anybody to view them. The TV stations will be telecasting to a minority and the result will be sponsors will quit and advertisers will also not advertise because the advertisements will be wasted on a non existent audience. The prime time belt is 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.

I think this is a personal problem of the writer. He should set his house in order without trying to get the TV stations to change their times and do the work for him. So Mr. Frustrated Viewer, please put your house in order and adjust your lifestyle so that all could enjoy these TV programs and relax after a hard days work.

Never get others to do your work for you. These are the traits of a coward.
