Coal power plant: Union writes to Mahinda, Ranil
The CEB Engineers Union has written to the two main Presidential candidates to take steps to implement the Norochcholai power plant project emphasizing the need for such projects for the development of the country.

CEB Engineers Union Vice President Ananda Piyathilake told The Sunday Times that the union had for many years tried to show the importance of such projects which will benefit the country in the long run.

The union claimed the signing last month of the MoU between China and Sri Lanka on the Norochcholai project was a positive sign. “However there is much work to be done to complete the project. That is why we wrote to the candidates emphasizing the dire need to implement the project. We hope whoever is elected priority will be given for this project,” he said.
