Edna boss killed in rail-crossing tragedy
Edna Chocolates Managing Director Palitha Edirisinghe was killed and Ceylon Continental Hotel Chairman I.W.P. Sharma injured when a train ploughed into their Pajero jeep at an unprotected level crossing in Wadduwa yesterday.

Train Controller Nihal Fernandez said the jeep driven by Mr. Sharma was hit by the Matara-bound train at the crossing near the Villa Ocean View to which they were heading. He said villagers living near this unprotected level crossing usually warned vehicles of oncoming trains.

Mr. Edirisinghe, the father of three, died in hospital while Mr. Sharma was transferred to a Colombo private hospital and is said to be out of danger.
