lineup, Kandy spun out some exciting moves to dazzle the large crowd

Champions of almost everything in local rugby, Kandy SC
look poised to add the Singer Sri Lanka Inter-Club Rugby Sevens
Cup to their trophy cabinet. They demolished the Army 'B' team by
a margin of 50 points in their opening skirmish at Nittawela yesterday.
  With
a virtual Sri Lanka Sevens lineup, Kandy spun out some exciting
moves and showed dazzling speed. Chamara Vithanage scored thrice
and Sanjeeva Jayasinghe twice. Mallikarachchi, Hettiarachchi and
Fazil Marija chipped in with a try each. Dhanushka
Pushpakumara (CR), Lakala Perera (Havelocks),Vajira Jayatilleke
(Army) were some of the other noted players who touched down twice.
                CR&FC
had a massive win over the Navy and the Army a fairly impressive
one over the CR&FC 'B' team. Yet, in truth, the rugby on display
was sometimes pedestrian. It was probably a case of early season
blues. The cobwebs of last year had probably not been dusted off.
