Drag-racer asked to pay for broken lights
A son of an Opposition MP has been directed by Police to pay for damages caused to a traffic signal light while he was allegedly drag-racing on Tuesday night near Alexandra Road.

The damages have been estimated at around Rs. 125,000. Mahen Panduka Wijesekara, son of the former Minister Mahinda Wijesekera was reportedly driving a yellow Rover mini vehicle bearing number HP WP 1234. Police claimed they were at the scene of the accident within five minutes. The former minister's son had denied that he was driving and that it was his driver's fault. A few hours later the former minister's son had brought a man who claimed to be the driver.
