‘Home away from Home’, a collection of over 50 photographs on Sri Lanka through the eyes of foreigners will be presented by a group of young and local exchange students of AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants des Science, Economique et Commercide), This exhibition will open at the Hermitage, Colombo on December 4 at 5 p.m. and continue till December 10.

The photography exhibition aims to capture the distinctive patterns of Sri Lankan culture, even though they maybe ordinary aspects of Sri Lankan life, are fascinating to these students. Sri Lankans can thus see how foreigners view their country.

The exhibition will display landscape, cityscape, religious images, and many other facets of life on a broad range of subjects, featuring a fusion of colour, energy and dynamism.

“We love your country, its colours and differences. Many things seem exotic, strange and beautiful to us and we want to capture that moment before it’s gone. We have hundreds of stories, ideas and opinions about your country, its people and culture. We have realized that we can see things that natives usually don’t even notice. It is so amazing. That is why we want to tell you our stories through this exhibition to illustrate the beauty seen by so many different eyes,” says Ivana Poliacikova, an AEISEC trainee from Slovakia.

Other team members are Sujeewa Tennakoon, Aruna Dissanayake, Sapumal Thibatuwawa, Akila Ramanayake, Thushan Wijesekara of Sri Lanka, Maria Antonia Perez of Colombo, Adam Gienusz of Poland and Peter Tomcak of Slovakia.
