Somaratne Dissanayake in Kerala
Film Director Somaratne Dissanayake was in Kerala, India to particpate as a Jury member in the Second International Video Festival (TV Festival) held in Kerala from May 20 to 25.

The festival was organised by C-DIT and the Government of Kerala. Center for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) is a premier institution in South Asia working in the field of visual communications, having divisions in video communication, multimedia, educational informatics, web services, holography and a host of other technologies, with focus on media convergence.

The first TV Fest was a grand success: and it had wonderful participation from filmakers from around the world. This the organisers have chosen "society-Science-Development" as the theme of the festival this year.


'Chritha Hathak' for Rotary Fund raiser project
'Chritha Hathak' will go on the boards on June 8 at 6.30 pm at the Bishop's College Auditorium to raise funds for the renovation of the Municipal Maternity Home at Slave Island.

The play is a presentation of the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid City.

The tickets for the drama are priced at Rs. 1000/- , Rs. 750/-, Rs. 500/- Rs. 300/- and Rs.100/- are available at the Bishop's College Auditorium, Salaka, Senkada, Vijitha Yapa and Sarasavi Bookshop.

'Sanda Maddhana' on top five tele programmes
'Sanda Maddhana', the popular teledrama sponsored by Swadeshi Industrial Works has been rated among the five most watched weekly television programmes in Sri Lanka for most of its airing period since telecast began on February 11 by top Market Research Team.

Telecast over Rupavahini at 8.30 p.m. every Tuesday, Sanda Maddhana is directed by teledrama veteran Bermin Lylie Fernando and produced by Mark Fernando and S.T. Murthi. Scripted by K.B. Herath, the story revolves round a teacher who stands up against evil and injustices committed by society especially corrupt politicians and their henchmen in the bureaucracy.

The teledrama stars Ranjan Ramanayake, Kanchana Mendis, Cletus Mendis, Avanthi Aponso, G..R. Perera, Sanjaya Leelarathne and many other accomplished actors and actresses.
