New parking rules on the Galle Road and Duplication Road has eased traffic flows and drawn a favourable response from road users. But some businessmen are complaining because the lack of sufficient parking bays on both roads has led to loss of business and revenue. "My customers have stopped coming and are going to places where there is parking," one shopkeeper said. Some also criticized the police for being rude to motorists, some of who were unaware of the new rules. Pictures show a row of shops on Galle Road with a no-parking sign (cone) while a policeman looks out for any offenders. Pix. by M.A. Pushpakumara.
