Boxing in two rings at Intermediate Championship Meet
The Intermediate Boxing Meet conducted by the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka will be held at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on May 28, 29, 30 commencing at 5.30 pm on each day.

The tournament is open to those boxers who are between 17 and 34 years of age and have not won at the Finals of any meet conducted by the ABA/SL, except at the Novices and Junior Championships.

For the first time in the annals of local boxing, the ABA hopes to conduct the tournament simulataneously on two rings at the same venue to cope up with the expected large number of entries and also to prevent boxingcontinuing lat into the night which is inconvenlent to both boxers as well as to officials.

Hence the ABA anticipates the full cooperation of all Referees and Judges to be present in time on all three days. Two young Trinco athletes in luck's way
The North-East and Trincomalee have produced some outstanding sportsmen, in the past who did proud for the country at national level. This brought about reconciliation via sports.

After the peace accord, the powers that be and organisations are striving to revive sports activities in the region. Ceylinco (Life) Insurance has been constantly helping rural athletes and other sportsmen to improve their skills with men and material through their sports foundation. It was initiated by former old Thomian ruggerite, Rajkumar Ranganathan.

Many benefited from these sports development packages. One of them was the Ampara athlete Damayanthi Dharsha. Ceylinco has decided to sponsor two promising young athletes from St. Joseph's College Trincomalee, who have excelled at national and Public schools meets. The two juvenlies are Thevarasa Rajan and M. Farukuddin. Rajan a promising sprinter won the U-15, 200m and 400m events, at the Sri Lanka Public Schools meet. - B.W
