Japanese animated fantasy action-adventure ‘One Piece Film: Red’ is now being shown at Liberty by Scope Cinemas, CCC – Colombo City Centre, PVR – Colombo 2 and  Kandy City Centre.

Directed by Gorō Taniguchi and produced by Toei Animation, the film is the fifteenth feature film of the One Piece film series made based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda.

The story of ‘One Piece Film;  Red’ revolves around Uta who  is the most beloved singer in the world. Renowned for concealing her own identity when performing, her voice has come to be described as “otherworldly.” Now, for the first time ever, Uta will reveal herself to the world at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans—excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance—the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound. The story begins with a shocking fact when Luffy reveals that she is Red-Haired Shanks’ “daughter” and his childhood friend.

In commemoration of the One Piece anime episode 1000’s release, the news on the film was announced on  November 21, 2021. The film had its world premiere in Nippon Budokan, Tokyo on July 22, 2022, for the celebration of 25th anniversary of One Piece manga and the film was released theatrically on August 6, 2022, in Japan.It recorded as the highest-grossing film of 2022 in Japan, the 6th highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan, and the 9th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.

In worldwide, the film had grossed over US$144.7 million in eight countries making it the 13th highest-grossing Japanese film of all-time.
