Sri Lanka joined the world in mourning the passing away of Queen Elizabeth II, who was the Queen of Ceylon from 1952 to 1972 when Sri Lanka became a republic. Queen Elizabeth was also the head of the Commonwealth, of which Sri Lanka is a member.
