The first Randoli Perahera gets underway in Kandy today with large crowds expected.
The final Kumbul Perahera was also witnessed by large crowds with special train and bus services providing transport.
The final Randoli perahera will parade the streets on Thursday followed by the day Perahera the following day.

Indi Raja was named as the ” lead ” Tusker of the Sri Dalada Maligawa by the Diyawadna Nilame Nilanga Pradeep Dela before the commencement of the Perahera.
This Tusker was a gift from Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to Sri Lanka by a deed of gift to the Sri Dalada Maligawa. Indi Raja was sent to Sri Lanka as a messenger of peace when relations between India and Sri Lanka were strained. The majestic tusker arrived in Sri Lanka on
