‘Kolamba Italaya’ directed by V. Sivagurunadhan and produced by Sudharma Nethicumara has been rated as the leading teledrama with largest number of episodes.
A teleplay which depicts the life story of two young men hailing from a rural village, has become a major hit winning the hearts of many teledrama viewers. It has the record of the longest teledrama in the ITN channel surpassing many others.
“This is a major achievement for me and team. I am extremely glad that I together with my director Sivagurunadhan was able to achieve this feat,” Sudharma who has already made plans for a number of teledramas projects said.
“This was a very difficult journey for me. I have come across some of the bitter experiences in my life when I entered this field. But I am sure what I have achieved is the result of all
those hard and difficult past,” Sudharma explained.
Sudharma has earlier produced teledramas like Bharyawo directed by Saranga Mendis. It starred Lucky Dias, SAbeetha Perera, Dilhani Ekanayake,kanchana Mendis, Menaka Rajapaksa, Damitha Abeywickreme, Bimal Jayakoday, Nehara Peiris, Nimanthi Porage, Nilanthi Wijesinghe and Buddhadasa Vithanarachchi.
The teledrama depicts the corruption in the so-called high class society and it inspires people to think beyond the reality.
The story narrates around Chandana and Sulalitha, two friends who come from a remote village and they dream to lead a successful life one day. They end up working in Andre’s restaurant teaming up with Tikira, who has the similar background. To achieve their dreams they join an illegal journey to Italy via boat. But their illegal attempt to migrate to Italy end up in Colombo itself as they are fooled by a conman. A real life story made into a drama, ‘Kolamba Italiya’ is the story of thousands of young men and women who dream to be successful.
