Trinity College gained the upper hand in their drawn Under-19 Inter-School traditional cricket encounter against Royal College played at Asgiriya yesterday. The highlights of the game were the performances of the home team where two centuries and a haul of seven wickets took the limelight.

Electing to bat, Trinity posted a challenging total of 381, aided by two centuries from Pawan Pathiraja (133) and Ranuda Somaratne (100), batting through the entire first day. In reply, Royal were able to muster only 188 with Sadisha Rajapaksha top scoring 87. Off-spinner Tharana Wimaladharma claimed career best figures of 7 for 64.

At close of play Trinity were 45 for the loss of four wickets, batting in their second innings.
