Each day brings about a mystery, a challenge and not to forget the wonderful memories close to heart. On the 8th of May 2022, spend your day at Trace Expert City, Colombo and be a part of the talk of the town as the Rotaract Club of IIT hosts ‘Hotdog Showdown 2022’.
HotDog Showdown is the biggest hotdog eating competition in Sri Lanka, tailored for all the passionate foodies roaming the street. Along with the eating competition, which will be categorized as male, female and couple, there will be various other food stalls, entertainment, mini motor show and celebrity appearances all for a price of LKR.500, do come and join the fun!
After over a year of the country halting all public gatherings, Hotdog Showdown brings itself back to life this year, bigger and better with various new additions, making it the project’s ninth year.
This year, Hotdog Showdown would treat you with well known crispy soft sizzling sausages, sandwiched between an oven baked fresh bun for all contestants. What more could you ask for, when you become a part of the ultimate showdown you gain the privilege to have as many hot dogs as you like. Through the years, there has been a notable increase in the audience which paved the way for this event to be one of the talked about grounds for social gatherings.
All proceeds from the event will go towards “E- Mithudama,” a project proposed by the Rotaract Club of IIT under the Community Service Avenue, with the core goal of assisting school children from rural, underprivileged areas of the country in supporting and improving their computer literacy. The project was inspired by the opportunity that could be created by partnering up with a number of companies, the basic ideology of the project being to use laptops and desktops that are left to be dumped, to build labs under the concept of “X-Labs” in a number of underprivileged schools each year.
Over the last four years the Rotaract Club of IIT, has brought to life over 20 “X-labs” covering numerous parts of the island such as Padukka, Badulla, Wilpathuwa, Kahawatta, Horana, Wayamba and Aluthgama and we wish to do more throughout the years to come.
